Thanks to funding from both
The Big Lottery Fund administered by Arena (Business in the
Community) and Environment & Heritage Service, we have
developed a unique facility to refurbish electrical goods.
Through this project we aim to raise public awareness of reuse
and recycling issues, encourage active participation in protecting
the environment and provide training and employment to the
long-term unemployed and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The ARC project collects unwanted
domestic white goods such as cookers, washing machines, dryers
and small electrical items. We also provide a drop-off area
for the public to bring unwanted items for recycling. Where
possible, we will repair and refurbish goods for sale at low
cost to lone parents, students, families and individuals on
low incomes. Anything that cannot be reused will be recycled
in accordance with the latest environmental protection legislation.
The project is both an
Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) and Designated
Collection Facility (DCF) and is approved by the Engineering
Training Council (Northern Ireland) to deliver NVQ courses.
